Paul & Grace
are getting married in New Zealand!

Dear friends and family,
Although this is not a formal wedding invitation, we are sharing our wedding plans in more detail so our guests travelling from The Netherlands have plenty of time to plan and prepare.
We understand that the distance makes it challenging to attend, so we hope the following information can help you make an informed decision about whether or not you can attend this special day.

Wedding Date: 26.02.26
Thursday 26th February 2026
Location: Auckland, New Zealand.

Travel Planning
We suggest coming to NZ for a minimum of 3 weeks.
Travelling from Amsterdam to Auckland can take anywhere between 24-34 hours depending on the airline, transfer and route, and can cost between €1200 - €2200 return, per adult.
*Definitely aim to arrive in Auckland 1 -2 days before the wedding, as Jet lag affects everyone differently.

Flying to New Zealand
Flying to NZ is at least 24 hours sitting on planes, so the best (fastest) option is 2 flights with a 3-5 hour layover. Another option for those with more time, is to stopover somewhere for 2-3 nights on the way to help with jet lag.
We highly recommend booking a return flight directly with an airline (not a third party) and we recommend the following the airlines.
We highly recommend booking a return flight directly with an airline (not a third party) and we recommend the following the airlines.
Emirates via Dubai, Qatar via Doha, Singapore Airlines via Singapore.
Nb: There are other options via big cities in Asia (Tokyo/Seoul/Bangkok) and also via the USA.
Travel Tips.
Avoid third parties! If you book through a discounter/aggregator (eg Expedia, Gate1.nl) you’ll be in a spot of bother if a flight is delayed or cancelled, as the airline is not responsible for finding you a new flight. Also, if you get separate tickets to save a few euros, expect some long stopovers or extra long layovers.
Avoid China at all costs! Although slightly cheaper, we've heard horror stories with difficult transfers, extra long layovers, poor communication and no ability to pay for any food or drinks at the airports!
If your layover is more than 4+ hours consider buying an access pass to a lounge. When you factor in food and drinks you can save money, plus the seats are more comfortable, your bags are safer and some even offer a shower.
Weekend of the Wedding
Our wedding is on Thursday 26th February 2026.
We’re planning on having a weekend of other activities and gatherings after the wedding. These will be announced in due course.
We advise arriving in Auckland 1 or 2 days before the ceremony and staying until Sunday 1st March.
Accommodation in Auckland
We can help with accommodation with friends and family.
Grace and I will be based on the North Shore (see pink arrows), specifically in the suburbs Birkenhead and Hillcrest. If you prefer to have your own space, choosing accommodation around the town of Highbury would work well!

In and Around Auckland
There is limited public transport in Auckland. You really need a car!
Auckland has a few charms, including....
Rangitoto Island (day trip on the ferry and walk up a volcano)
Waiheke (beaches and wineries)
Takapuna Beach
Piha and Murawai on the wild west coast
The white sand beaches further North.
Yes, No, or Maybe?

Please respond to Paul via email with a "Yes, No, or Maybe" before the 26th February 2025 (one year before the wedding).

We understand there is plenty of planning involved with such a big trip. So for those you who want to attend but cannot commit 100% just yet, respond with "Maybe" and we will reserve your place at the wedding.
Please note: if you respond "Maybe" you must confirm you attendance by 26th September 2025 (six months before the wedding).
More details to follow! In the meantime, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
We hope to hear from you soon!
